Subject: “How Do You See Your World?”

Thought Adjuster: “In this world everyone has the ability to create their own reality and, in fact, they do. The way in which you see life is greatly the product of the beliefs you have developed through your experiences, and the beliefs and traditions from those who lived before you and those around you.
Many of you see the world as competition. You see your life like a race that you must win by any means while you try to defend yourself from others who are out to rob you of those things you have obtained. This way of seeing life promotes the idea that all human beings are basically rivals in the procurement of the resources of this world. This is the basis of mistrust and many attitudes that promote separation and division among people.
Unfortunately, this way of seeing life is very popular in this world. It is the origin of many of the evils you see in all the societies of this planet and it is a view of reality that is completely false. A little intelligent reflection would bring all men and women who think independently to realize that there are very few things that are really necessary to live and these things are abundant. A little wisdom would demonstrate that cooperation – not competition – is a more effective way to live and create a superior civilization.
But only each individual’s faith in the care of the Father will promote true fraternity in humanity. It is only when the intelligent souls who seek answers dare to search within themselves for the truth, that they discover there is order in the universe and creation is a place filled with love and friendly beings who strive together to reach perfection.
Plant the seeds of truth in the souls that still languish in the old ways of seeing life so they can be inspired to search within for the presence of the Father to illuminate their way and bring them, by means of their own efforts, to a place of true freedom.”

Subject: “They Are Developing Spirits.”

The Beloved: “Let us be as one for a moment and allow Me to explain to you that the burdens of guilt, due to mistakes in the past, have been lifted from your shoulders. Indeed, these burdens never existed, but you, yourself, had to come to that realization.
You are now beginning to realize the wisdom behind all your feeble planning and decision making. All along it was I who wanted you to walk this path because of all the wonderful lessons you would learn along the way.
You are learning to love unconditionally and you realize how this brings freedom to the human soul and healing of mind and body so that everything moves into a greater harmony and balance. Emotions are coming to rest, as resentments, grudges, and disappointments fade into nothingness, never to be recalled.
You are beginning to realize that everything happens according to My plan of ultimate triumph, and that only good can come from your sorrows and grief. There are no mistakes in the universe. Just have faith and believe that the soul shall grow, and that it will become victorious over human selfishness, and all its baser creature tendencies.
The angels in God’s service are always watching over their charges but they are not allowed to interfere with human free will, so they just have to stand by and watch humans thoughtlessly inflict sorrow and grief upon each other.
Humans still have to learn that they all are children of the Creator, and that they need to learn to get along with each other, while they play in the same ‘sandbox.’
This, if they so desire, is a lesson that all humans are to learn – that they are developing spirits, and that they are pilgrims on this long journey towards an unconditionally loving and changeless God, meanwhile perfecting themselves on the travels to Paradise.
Only puny man has assigned human emotions and attributes to the eternal Creator.
I, God, change not.”

Thought Adjuster: “Increased present moment awareness allows you to get a sharper definition of the elements impacting your emotional weather and enables you to promptly look for shelter instead of merely complaining about darkening skies.
How do you feel when you scan news headlines that are intentionally bolded and capitalized to exert an ever-stronger impact on their readership? Paradoxically, the disclaimers are printed in tiny fonts, as if whatever may be adversarial to your wellbeing should not be given much attention. Isn't it a blatant mental manipulation by exaggeration or understatement?
If viewing the news is part of your daily routine, emotionally-loaded headlines may act as metaphoric scarecrows and trigger sentiments of outrage, discouragement, or helplessness — robbing you of a daily fresh start.
The anticipation of a freshly-brewed cup of coffee entices many to get up in the morning. Why would you choose to break your mental fast with a regimen of warmed-up and hard-to-digest news that impairs your emotional balance?
Jesus never allowed himself to get enmeshed in mundane matters. He remained focused on matters of spiritual import and came to embody the peace that passes all understanding.
“And if Jesus were on earth today, living his life in the flesh, he would be a great disappointment to the majority of good men and women for the simple reason that he would not take sides in present-day political, social, or economic disputes. He would remain grandly aloof while teaching you how to perfect your inner spiritual life so as to render you manyfold more competent to attack the solution of your purely human problems.” [UB, 140:8.17]
How could he remain so stoic when things were falling apart? Most certainly not for lack of empathy but because he chose to tackle what was within his qualifications and range of influence — thus not letting disgruntling news put a damper on his ever-renewed cheerful countenance. He exhibited the emotional stability of a shower of better ways.
Sift through the content of your life and discard the unsettling elements that disturb your peace. I can assure you that it will generate balmier moods.”

Orion: “Procreation is highly thought of in human society, and motherhood on Urantia is ‘by all means’ sacred. The reason for this is the mystery by which the reproduction process long appeared enshrouded to the mind of primitive man. Giving birth was seen as a miracle – a deed by the Gods. As a result, reproduction is generally held in high regard by all peoples of Urantia, whilst in fact, reproduction is a biological event present in all living beings on your world, and there is nothing supernatural about its purpose, per se. Simply put, to serve the evolutionary process this is how life was conceived on Urantia. In time, as civilization and its culture evolve on your world, reproduction will mostly be seen as a procreative function of the human species, rather than an extra-ordinary process, and it will have less of an emotional meaning attached to it. Indeed, procreation will always be valued, but in the future it will mostly be seen as a means to improve your best human strains for the betterment of the human race as a whole, through the increasing knowledge you are now acquiring about genetic manipulation.
“The embryonic form of this realization is already present in the most advanced societies on Urantia, as many already understand that procreation and parenthood are, in fact two different things. Adoption and alternative fertilization has given many people the opportunity to be parents without being the conceivers/reproducers. Today’s procreation process has already been manipulated to provide the otherwise impossibility of parenthood. In your future, it will be manipulated to improve the racial human stocks, as already postulated by your budding eugenics of today. It is not an easy road to travel, and you will live with the increasing impoverishment of your good strains for some time yet, before they can begin to be improved by science. Even a possible second racial uplifting from stocks outside-Urantia may be possible.
“As your knowledge of the fifth revelation records will increasingly be taken seriously by opinion-shapers on your world, the more you can learn from insights therein on how to preserve and improve your best human strains by simply controlling reproduction of classified stocks. There you can also find specific intimations that Science can greatly increase the physical, the senses of vision, and hearing. Genetics, although crudely so, is already modifying your crops. One day, when better understood, it will safely improve your generations to come. All this will certainly meet with resistance of some anti-science religionists, but increasingly scientific progress on your world will drag such old-fashioned-thinkers towards a future in which they will remain a forlorn minority.
“In your advanced societies you have increasingly enjoyed longer lifetimes, through the adoption of preventive measures against diseases, global vaccinations, sanitation of the environment and advances in medicine. These improvements are the signs of ‘the golden age’ announced in your olden records of a world in which someone who dies at 100 years of age will be considered to still be young. Progress will become easier if your religionists especially allow themselves to be more open to the achievements of true science. Science and Religion deal with different dimensions of reality, the former with its physical laws, and the latter with its spiritual laws. Both must keep their independence, so they can benefit civilization as a whole. I am a Life-Carrier, therefore largely more interested in the progress of both your biological and cultural evolution. Hopefully you will not destroy yourselves with your endless wars. Peace be with you.”

“Momentary Eternity”
Something long ago forgotten

It was a relatively warm winter’s afternoon in late June of 1995. Robert Harrison, Chester Newland and William Forester, three mature-age university students, were catching the last of the sun’s warm rays on the steps of dormitory block B.
I was late for supper, scurrying towards the mess hall when one of them said, “Hey guru George, give us your definition of eternity.”
I disliked being called a guru, but that was their idea of what ‘a clinical hypnotherapist doing more psych in college’ was all about.
I stopped and explained to them the nature of eternity and how from eternity time space arrived – words along those lines. They sat there on those steps, mouths open, eyebrows raised in disbelief, but I was surely more surprised about what had come out of my mouth than they were.
My words had been most explicit and utterly soul-felt.
There was only a icy cold ‘though better than nothing’ apple pie left in the mess hall, but when I got back to block B, just minutes later, Chester Newland had left. Only Robert and William were still sitting on the steps sharing a last cigarette.
They stopped me again, wishing for me to repeat my answer to their question about eternity, for it was gone from their minds.
Well! Neither could I remember those exquisite phrases out of thin air, so I pointed at the sky and told them it had all been sent to my brain and mind from way, way up there.
And until last night, the memory of the event was gone as well.

Thought Adjuster: “To you, the subject of my future personalizing, our eternal life for us both to be enjoyed, and our prospective oneness, this communication of importance. Well might you question if there was any reason at all for the four of you to understand, if even for a moment in time, the concept of eternity. There is no great prize for guessing that for one of the people at that short meeting the entire effort was a waste of time. However, even in the spiritual realm where a wasted effort can be foreseen by me, the ‘doing of the right thing’ must be observed, even by Thought Adjusters.
“The aim of the exercise was not for you to fully understand the concept of eternity. It was not meant for your friends to understand the concept of eternity. Such is presently, and possibly for a long time to come, an impossibility in respect of the mind endowments any of you can support. What happened there on that afternoon was an opportunity for me to get them thinking about their eternal lives. Only through the cooperation of their own Thought Adjusters were they capable of momentarily comprehending -- mind you I did not say understanding -- the reality of eternity. Indeed, just for a time.
