Teacher Ophelius.
Subject: “Opportunity to Express the Divine Will.”
Received by Chris.
Teacher Ophelius: “Many people on earth have become very predictable in their behaviour – they are ‘creatures of habit,’ and therefore they follow many patterns that they have been conditioned by throughout their upbringing or by the inspiration of seasonal festivals. The desire to do good to their fellows, spread cheer, or to give compassionately (charity) to those less fortunate souls, who have become victims of economic circumstance or illness, becomes almost a cyclical duty driven by commercial profiteers and marketing campaigns rather than by a self-imposed reflection on their own place in life or their responsibility as a universe citizen.
“Many people are very giving and charitable by nature, yet because of the busyness of life, and the constant doing and struggle to carve out a living, or to seek constant entertainment, this compassionate side is rarely stirred because they have not made it a habit to slow down and think about the deep meanings of life, love, and relationships. Compassion is a realization of inequality between the condition of the self, and the condition of another, and the desire to relieve suffering. When we feel compassionate toward someone, what is occurring within us is that we are making a choice whether to express the Divine Will, or to continue uninterrupted with our busy lives.
“When we say, ‘The plight of that poor soul tugs at my heartstrings,’ what is happening is that our Indwelling Spirit is giving us the opportunity to express the Divine Will and to make a choice to make perfect that which is imperfect – to relieve suffering and to bring what is unequal to a state of equilibrium. Do you not recognize the divine signature in this compassionate feeling? Moreover, on a greater scale, we find a great outpouring of compassion, heroism, and unity of cause when a disaster happens and many people are suffering in dire situations. The divine expression to be compassionate and to relieve suffering becomes very strong in us because our ‘world is rocked,’ and our busy little self-absorbed lives stop for a moment, and we peek out of our shell to find that the contrast of our own well-being is drastically unequal with the state of those who are suffering alongside us, and we inherently desire to express the Divine Will and bring all things back into a state of relative ‘normalcy.’
“How can we be open to this Divine Will and develop our god-like characters throughout the year without having to be shocked into noticing some gross inequality or to be influenced by some marketing campaign? Develop a habit of stillness where you express your gratitude for life and your desire to be an instrument of the Divine Will. Stop the ‘carousel’ and look out at the world and see where you can be of service to someone. Doing one small act of kindness to another that would be out of your pattern of daily routine brings the entire world one nth degree closer to perfection. Doing this day in and day out as a new ‘habit’ starts a chain reaction that changes the world no matter how insignificant it seems to you.
“‘Peace on earth and good will towards men’ is a statement of the Divine Will to bring all things to perfection and completion. Your choice to allow the Divine Will to function through you means you are a participant in the Great Plan and not just a bystander.
“Peace to you,
“The Circle of Seven.”

Subject: “Maturity in Life.”
Received by Valdir Soares.
Prolotheos: “A human being reaches sexual maturity – gains the capacity to reproduce – when puberty arrives around the 13th year of life. However, a boy or girl at 13 years of age is clearly not yet mature enough in life. They are not prepared for life. Experience is essential to maturity, and you simply cannot skip it. Either you are mature, or you are not. Unfortunately, some people do not seek life experiences that will contribute to their personal maturity; and so it does not matter how old they are, they will never mature. Maturity, then, is a process in which several factors must coincide. Some of these, however, are most essential in anyone reaching maturity.
“The first ‘essential ingredient’ for maturity in life is to accruement of bona fide experiences. As well, there are experiences that are altogether pointless. Usually these kinds of experiences are the ones that result from one’s seeking temporal pleasures, animal urges, gratification of vain desires, or selfish realization of will. Bona fide experiences are the ones that are the result of seeking superior realization of values and understanding of higher meanings. People searching for values and meanings are not just seeking knowledge. They are seeking wisdom. Bona fide experiences can be both intense events and cumulative achievements that produce an experiential balance in facing life and its vicissitudes.
“Maturity in life is the fruit of meaningful personality unification. Personality is evident by function of will. It is in charge of existential unification, either the individual is conscious of it, or he or she is not. However, in its attempt to unify choices, factors that are naturally incompatible may render the individual psychologically awry, and produce a deviant character, which may favor evil and malevolence. The personality unification that produces ethical maturity is the one that, together with achievement of bona fide values and meanings, brings a balance to the physical, emotional and intellectual factors resident in a particular individual. Meaningful personality unification starts its realization when a person sincerely decides to do the will of God in his or her life.
“Finally, maturity comes to a human being when he or she lets spiritual primacy take over in all aspects of life. That is what we call spiritual maturity, which cannot be reached without the poise and conscience of the individual, and of both the Spirit Within and the spiritual self, the soul. The spiritual dominance happens when the soul, as the receptacle of all spiritual growth, produced by the conjoint action of Spirit Within and the individual self, and by means of the human will, finally governs all actions of a person with a spiritual purpose and meaning. Spiritual dominance is a constant awareness of the spiritual value of life in all its aspects.
“Therefore, my pupil, your personal maturity is a multi-faceted process that culminates in spiritual maturity. Seek out the experiences whose meanings will remain with you for all eternity. Among those, undoubtedly, are the ones motivated by love, truth and beauty. Spiritual maturity is not gained automatically; it is personal¸ and it depends of each decision you make, reaffirming the spiritual priority in all you do. I am Prolotheos, saying to you and all: Aim for the best, and the very best will come ever closer to you. Peace!”

Thought Adjuster.
Subject: “Search And You Will Find.”
Received by Oscar.
Thought Adjuster: “The idea that it is impossible to make contact with the presence of God inhabiting each one of you, is widespread among you. One technique is to formulate a question in your mind for the Father and then search for an answer. You can search in books, on the radio, on television, or the internet, and you will always receive an answer. Better still, you can try writing the answer yourself.
“This works, because your Thought Adjuster is continuously looking for a way to more successfully influence your mind and communicate with you in a more effective manner. The ideas regarding what you want to know are immediately placed in your mind, even before the question is verbally expressed, because your Thought Adjuster knows the desires of your mind and your heart.
“To bring these ideas from the spirit mind to the conscious mind you only need a reminder – a clue – to open the gates of understanding. The catalyst may be a phrase you read, a song you hear, images on television, a memory from your childhood, and more. The possibilities are endless.
“However, only those who ask questions will receive answers. As the Master said, ‘Search and you will find’. Forget the idea that talking with the Father is impossible. In reality, it is the simplest thing in the world. Even when the communication doesn’t happen with words, you will always receive what you need and the real desires of your soul will always receive answers and guidance to achieve the goal of human life – to become increasingly like the Father.”

Urantia, December 14, 2013 (date of transcription).
Teacher: The Beloved One.
Subject: “I Am Always Available.”
Received by Lytske.
The Beloved One: “It is not always easy for humans to know what the Will of God is. Some mortals think that the doing of God’s Will means to sacrifice all things that give them pleasure. This is most definitely not the case. The doing of God’s Will has been badly misunderstood in the past. It is true that there is sacrifice involved, but that is only in the process of subduing the baser self in you.
“Doing God’s Will means overcoming the lower instincts through self-discipline to self-mastery. This path is not easy, but it builds a strong character, which can withstand temptations, and is not easily swayed by the sophistries of others. God’s Will simply means, seeking the way with the most love in it, and with respect to all others. In short, it means living the golden rule, as in doing unto others as you yourself, would like to be treated.
“Jesus lived an exemplary life on earth by living according to the golden rule and thereby always being obedient to the Will of the Father in Heaven. The golden rule is to be found in all religions, and, much is the pity that it is not practiced to the extent that it could be practiced. Jesus always exhorted His followers to ‘love one another’. Well, look around you!
“Wars have not ceased. Even among families and neighbors this blight carries on, for the cave-mentality has not been subdued and overcome, especially because material tendencies and greed have outstripped and replaced religion.
“More value ought to be placed in the cultivation and training of true character building ways. Sadly, fewer and fewer humans pay attention to the Still Small Voice of God within them. Sure, lip-service is being paid when people dutifully trot off to their churches, synagogues, mosques, tabernacles, or any other temple of worship, pay their penance and dues and think that this is enough and all is fine in their world. Meanwhile they don’t search within themselves, to seek the Glory of God and the meaning and purpose of life. It is so much easier to have ‘the better educated’ do their thinking for them.
“The time has now come for each person to take responsibility for their thoughts and actions, ask what God’s will is, and how to surrender the self-will. It will be a path filled with love and goodwill towards all others. One person at a time, that’s how the world will be changed, as the benign virus of love will be spread all over the planet.
“Ponder how you will do God’s Will today, and then act on it with an open and honest heart. You can always ask for My Help. I am always available.”

Teacher Hezekiah.
Subject: “Celebrating Special Dates.”
Received by Valdir Soares.
Hezekiah: “By your calendar, another Urantia year is about to finish, and a new one is about to start. Still, as you well know, January 1st is just as important as December 31st, and so are all other days of the year. Western Christians have marked these dates as special, while other cultures and religions have marked other dates in different places, and during diverse ages. You need to mark special dates so you can remember certain happenings by these dates, and live your lives by periods – weeks, months, years and decades. These set periods help you to plan life, record the plan in your mind, and remember to act on it.
“Do acknowledge and respect other cultures and religions' special dates. It’s a sign of maturity to be considerate to other peoples’ religious and cultural values, while keeping yours and learning from others. If you are interested enough, you will discover that special dates celebrated by other cultures have the same purpose as do your own: to keep alive values that are meaningful to them – to people, to religious groups, even to entire civilizations. No nation, culture or religion has it all, you need to learn from each other and complement each other.
“Your social, cultural and religious contexts are strong determinants of who you are. You should value the special dates of your religious traditions as they remind you that you are part of a historical stream of faith that gives you an identity in your spiritual community. Indeed, most of these dates should prompt you to understand and live the contemporary meanings of the faith of your ancestors. Celebrate these special dates with a live effort to ‘unearth’ their spiritual values from repetitive traditions and customs. Seek to realize what these celebrations mean to your life today.
“As a new year begins for most people on Urantia, and as many of you engage in the old habit of making new resolutions for the new year, make this habit a tool to pledge more than good intentions, but to set goals and life-guidelines that will make you a better human being, not merely somebody thinner or richer. Make goals to increase your tolerance, your compassion and openness towards your fellow human beings. These special dates can become starting points for a wonderful new attitude to life – something that will improve you from the inside-out – and, as a result make a difference in the lives of those around you.
“Let special dates be more for you than just another chance to satisfy yourself in pleasurable festivities. Pause and take time to reflect about the dates’ spiritual meaning. These are special days, so that all the other days, although common, may not be banal ones. Let special dates help you to renew your vows, your commitment, even your whole life. Make good use of them by making them count. Make them not only special, but memorable, by utilizing them for decisions that will matter in your life. I am your teacher Hezekiah, inviting you to make life special by being special yourselves. Peace be with you.”
