Subject: “Material Success and Spiritual Achievement”

Thought Adjuster: “Many among you are wary of mixing the spiritual with the material, mainly because of your beliefs that material things are inherently ‘bad’ and should not be combined with the spiritual. However, are you not a creature who lives in two different worlds, in two different planes of existence? You are material as well as spiritual and to say that your material part is somehow evil is to say that your Father has placed evil within you. Of course, you know this is not the case. So it may be time to leave behind that absurd concept.
“Those who progress in the achievement of their spiritual circles become more intuitive and creative when facing the problems of daily living. They seem to find solutions with greater ease than do others and they feel the impulses of inspiration more frequently. This is simply the result of having a more relaxed and awakened mind that can pay attention to those things that were always there, but remained unnoticed due to the many distractions with which a scattered mind has to deal.
“The search for material success seldom brings with it achievements in spiritual goals. On the other hand, spiritual development and the increasing communion of a human being with the divinity that lives within his or her being have frequent positive effects in other areas of life. This should not be a great mystery. A human being with a more relaxed mind, an adequate perception of himself or herself, a heart open to spiritual input, a high degree of self-mastery and with a highly moral value system, will have an increased probability of finding material success.
“When an increasing number of inhabitants of this world discover the rewards of a more dynamic and fulfilling spiritual life, this will become the norm in society and not an exception for a few eccentric ones. When relationships among human beings develop into true kinship — a brotherhood governed by love — you will discover that you can perform great endeavors that defy the present limits of knowledge and material achievement. The great problems of the present will become trivial for those evolved human beings and life in this sphere will be truly pleasant and productive in evolving worthy souls for the universes.
“Imagine how painful it can be for your Celestial observers to see how day after day you hit the wall of your own false perceptions and trip over the same stones of your lowest selfish tendencies, while having the solution so close and so evident. The fact that so few among you achieve material success is due to fabrications of your own imagination and false beliefs. It is not a rule of the universe. It is you who need to change and start dedicating your personal and shared resources to the truly important goal of existence, which is the progressive effort needed to achieve perfection — to be the best you can be.”

Machiventa: “Dear Linda, this is Machiventa Melchizedek. I wish to welcome you to the 11:11 Progress Group, which is directly under my tutelage. I congratulate you on your being able to see where this little 11:11 gem in the crown of my personal career needed help.
“The members of this progressive group were years ago (2,000) informed that at a future time their endeavors would be important — perhaps even critical. That critical time is here now and you have joined at this time when there is much unrest, needless competition, even hatred and resulting inaccuracy of transmitting amongst like groups.
“For some time your Guardian Angels and their Midwayer contacts have recommended for you to be entered into this group, to become part of it, to contribute to its welfare and success, not in the least overlooking your preparation for further (Morontia) lives to come when one of the main aspects of your spiritual progress will be your capacity to work in, and for, ever larger groups.
“In keeping with the rules of Urantia Progress, two Secondary Midwayers, a pair of many millennia, have been appointed to your care. It is of importance to greet them when you set about your 11:11 task or when you are otherwise reminded of their presence. To you I may seem far away, but I can reach out and influence to the positive many changes in your world.
“I say ‘au revoir’ and I now pass you on for you to hear from your Maker.
Christ Michael: “My dearest daughter, this is the Nebadon Creator Son Michael and I also speak on behalf of my all-time, time-space Consort, Nebadonia, the Mother of all local universe Angels and myriad other species. We call you our dearest daughter because in all the far-flung universes there is only one just like you. Speak to us when you are in need or when you just want to talk. Our door is always open and you can address us by the names that have the most comfortable ‘ring’ for you. Imagine you have climbed onto Nebadonia’s lap, when you need her care and it shall be so.
“To help with the transmission work of Lytske, Oscar, Valdir, Chris and George is a noble, soul-growing undertaking, but always recall that you were granted free will at birth and your decisions are yours alone, as they are for all personalities of evolutionary origin. Whatever path you may take, understand that we both know you, and know you well, for long have you searched. And a time will come when we will both embrace you in a higher sphere. Until then, stay true to your calling.

Subject: “True Greatness”

Thought Adjuster: “Human beings often consider things that have no eternal value to actually be great. When you consider the value of a person’s life, think about what will be the eternal implications of his or her life? What did he or she do for humanity? How did that person contribute to elevate the spiritual level of his or her peers? This is the main question you should ask when considering someone’s legacy.
“Beyond money and material things, a true legacy is something that survives the test of time. The things that today are sold everywhere will be obsolete and out of fashion by tomorrow. The corporations of today that are the most powerful in the world may not be there tomorrow. And if they are, they will very likely be in the hands of others. If what you have done disappears with time then it has no eternal value — real value.
“Now consider the mother of a family in any of the poorer regions of this world. This mother struggles all her life to sustain her children and to offer them the chance of a happy future. She doesn’t want greatness for her children — privileges, honors, exaltation, material wealth — she just tries to keep them alive and healthy until they can fend for themselves. This mother lives her life dedicated to this purpose and years later she dies without anybody other than her family remembering her. After a few generations nobody will know if she ever lived on this planet.
“However, her children will have descendants and they in turn will have descendants. In just 2,000 years — an insignificant number compared to eternity — the descendants of this woman could be more than 2 million people, assuming their descendants double in number every century — a very conservative estimate considering the population of this world has tripled during the last 75 years.
“Two million people will owe their life to the anonymous efforts of this unknown woman. After these considerations, how could you label the life of this woman as insignificant? Maybe this woman also helped others around her while she lived. Maybe this woman also had a job where she helped create products and services that helped others achieve greater things. The impact of a human life is almost impossible to measure from the limited point of view of time, but from eternity, the One who sees the end from the beginning knows perfectly well how valuable and important each one of us really is.
“Do not focus your attention and your efforts in trying to emulate the achievements of those whom the majority considers as important. Right there where you are and with your own resources you can make things that are truly great for the future, just by making an effort to be the best you can aspire to be — the struggle for perfection — and by following the guidance of the Voice of the Father within you, who truly knows the results that your decisions and actions inspired by truth, beauty and goodness can achieve.
“Find your place in the world, do the best you can do within your circle of influence and leave the outcome in the hands of the Father.”

Subject: “The Power of Prayer — The Prayer.”

Teacher Samuel: “We all did as we often do — take a lengthy moment to clear our thoughts from the countless matters that are hiding in the backs of our minds and that urgently wish to present themselves. We are ready to say a short prayer.
“Dear Father, Creator of all, we come to You, many of us at this time, to sincerely plead with You about the status quo on our world. There is so much unrest, so much unhappiness, poverty and despair. We ask you, Father, to awaken in the hearts and souls of all mankind their reason for being on this earth and for them all to make good with their brothers and sisters the disagreeable inequalities that so damage our society. We thank you, Father. Amen.”
George: “I hear you, Samuel. What we need is a few thousand more like Susan (Kimsey), Bill Kelly, Rick (Giles) and Gerdean — all four gone too early. We need thousands, speaking all languages, unafraid to tell bankers to stop gambling with money that is not theirs and insuring their colleagues to claim fat payouts upon their too early demise. We need the receivers’ voices to shame politicians into serving those who voted them in, rather than their aiding a small group of doubtful friends.
“What we need is central banks that stop printing currency, stop sending out pretty messages and distorting the markets. Better still, no central banks at all. We need factories that make worthwhile things rather than armaments. More important than anything, I feel we need news media that are not afraid of the truth. That would be a start! And that would be better than the warm and woolly ‘everything is just fine and dandy’ when the entire planet is in crisis. We need a world where death is no longer casually rated as collateral damage.
“I don’t have to worry about my position as a teacher. At 75, I feel like I’m 200, but I can still say what I feel … yes, say it as I see it. On the next level there might be some restrictions. Enough. I say, ‘Amen.’
“We’re on a roll here. Who is next?”

Subject: “The Power of Prayer — Not a Catch 22.”

Teacher Samuel: “Good morning all. This is your Teacher Samuel of Panoptia bringing you my greetings and the greetings from Elaine’s Teacher, Aaron of Urantia, as well. Teacher Aaron was the bearer of the all-important papyrus scrolls of Moses’ time. I was an agricultural technician during the early Light and Life stages on Panoptia’s well-watered southern half of the twin continents. We, former mortals, are both honored to be allowed to keep our fusion on hold to teach for a season and the subject this morning is ‘The Power of Prayer.’
“Prayer is much misunderstood. Prayer is not ‘God, please give me a pony … the latest automobile.’ Prayer is not a learned-by-head repeating of appeals directed at the Creator, the waving of flags or the mindless ‘thumbing’ of rosary beads. A great host of things add up to being no prayer at all. Yet prayer can be many things that do qualify. This morning we will discuss just one kind of prayer — just one kind — and already we assure you that you will understand the power of prayer, approximately, as we can explain it to you … approximately.
“For the Gods to experience life; our lives and everyone else’s — angels and transcendentalers included — we are all made different. We are big ones and little ones, tall ones and short ones, round ones and skinny ones, black ones and white ones. To make it even more interesting we were all given different personalities. We are Optimistic and Pessimistic, Manic and Depressive, Open and Extroverted, Adventurous, Bold and Curious. See, we have all the A, B, C’s and the entire alphabet of character traits.
“Then something else happened: We were given free will. And this is where it became complicated, where progress and perfection of the Gods’ universes might be delayed or even reversed. And still, there was nothing the Gods could not handle. Well before some errant creature with strange and negative ideas would likely retard or even reverse progress to perfection, the Gods would foresee it all. They would have already created the errant creature’s nemesis to, in a manner of speaking, ‘cut off that wrongdoer at the pass.’
“Understand clearly now that one who is against progress towards perfection for all and sundry is in fact not normal, is in fact abnormal, is not real, is in fact insane. That is the understanding all over the universes. Yes everywhere, but not on your world. On your world and among many of your groups, there is concensus that their opposing groups need to be hampered from achieving their goals of peace, happiness and sufficiency … from existing even! In such a situation, the Gods may prefer not to intervene in what They foresee.
“Do we here have a Catch 22? Is it correct that your global drive towards perfection is halted by a too-poweful group of insane saboteurs, whilst the Gods must ever preserve creatures’ free-will prerogatives? Indeed not, my dear friends and students You are not powerless. You are not at a loss. The challenge has become yours my dear studious friends. You have at your disposal meaningful prayers for the good and future of all. You have the Power of Prayer that can change all reality.
“Take a break now. Shortly we shall return and pray.”
