Nothing to Do with Anything, but Good for a Laugh.
from the Desk of George Barnard — April 9, 2015.
This happened many years ago during the time when Tamara Chelsey and I were involved with clinical (ethical) hypnosis — hypno-therapy is actually the proper term. One of our eight students was a young man called Luigi, a new arrival from Italy in the Land of Oz.
Luigi was loud, hard to understand as he murdered the English language. And at this time, while he had completed just four of the first 12 lessons, he decided he knew it all. What kind of a therapist would he grow up to become? I dreaded the prospect of guiding him week after week. With a sign above his door and an advertisement in the local paper, he thought he was ready for anything.
Since he lived in a rather Latin part of town, and his having a name like Luigi, it wasn’t long before his first patient rang the bell. Enter Tony, a sickly young man, who for years had visited many physicians, psychologists and even the odd (pun intended) psychiatrist. No one had come up with the answer to what ailed Luigi’s countryman.
It took a number of tries for Luigi to hypnotise Tony. At last the patient showed the tell-tale signs of rapid eye movement behind his closed eye lids. What to do now? Luigi didn’t know. As yet his lessons in specific therapies had not begun. Therapies would come many months down the track. Perhaps his patient would begin to speak. Perhaps. Perhaps not. Luigi waited, and waited, and he waited some more, but Tony didn’t say a thing.
Finally Luigi could stand it no more, and he shouted at his patient: “What the &%44 hell is the matter with you?”
Please, don’t try this at home.
Shocked and surprised Tony opened his eyes and muttered, “I’m allergic to starches.” Problem solved, but what a way to go about it. Here we now are, we have an Italian allergic to starches. No more spaghetti, no more pasta. What is left?
It taught us the valuable lesson, however, that deep down we know precisely what is wrong with us. It taught proud and overconfident Luigi to study up on his long, long list of therapies.
All the above is fairly well remembered. Oh, yes.
And it’s just a small thought from George Barnard.

Subject: “Progress Comes with Perseverance.”
Message received by Anyas.
Teacher: “Dear child, as you consciously embark upon your spiritual journey, you might at first feel overwhelmed by the task at hand and by the length of the journey ahead of you. What matters most is that you consciously live your daily stretch toward your final destination. As you look back on the years of practicing Stillness, you come to realize that you did progress, baby step-by-baby step. The same goes for the training and toning of your physical being.
“At first, you may feel drained and have a frequent need to catch your breath. You may be overcome by doubt in your ability to become the healthy being that you are striving to be. You do have a mental picture of your goal — a vision — a picture that you post on your refrigerator door to remind you of what is possible.
“As you long to develop your soul and get to know the Father’s love, do also express your vision — the vision of this beautiful connection — and imagine the feelings of joy, bliss and ecstasy you will one day be able to call your own. At times, as you persevere, you will get glimpses of them, a wonderful taste so that you can keep going, hoping for more.
“You do have to purge your being from all negative tendencies and emotions in order to commune more intimately with the Father’s Presence who does not contain any shadows, only light. You achieve this by raising your vibrations, more and more, climbing the ladder of higher emotions that lead you to the highest of them all: Uncorrupted Unconditional Love.
“The Father does not spoil His children with unearned rewards. He is pro-active in the education He provides. The best feelings come from having tried and persevered and seen positive outcomes. Keep trying and you will know whereof we speak.”

Teacher Prolotheos.
Subject: “Commonalities among Religions.”
Message received by Valdir Soares.
Prolotheos: “What divides human beings are their differences. What unites them are their commonalities. The different religions on Urantia will remain in conflict with each other while you focus on their differences, rather than on their commonalities. What you have in common with others will make you focus on what is basic, essential or primordial. The differences are construed upon what is secondary, derivative and superfluous. The interchange of knowledge and spiritual aspects from the different religions should bring mutual improvement to every religion, acknowledging and incorporating the advanced features of each. However, it is necessary to recognize these basic commonalities:
“Faith. Spiritual faith is religious. It is an expression of human capacity for believing. When a human being gives credit to what others say, a kind of faith, aided by intelligence and discernment, is functioning. Religious faith is believing in the supernatural, which is beyond the reach of the senses, but which can be grasped by intuition. Religious faith is innate in all normal individuals. However, it is strictly personal, non-transferable and non-provable. Your mind and soul believe in spiritual values, but as personal beings you find these high spiritual values primarily in Deity, which we call God, our Creator and Father.
“Prayer. Prayer is communication. Before you pray to a Deity, you have to pray by yourself in your thoughts, then for your parents and for others. Praying to Deity is a natural consequence of believing in Deity. All religions include prayers in their practices. A religion without prayer, is a religion without a soul. Prayer is religious-spiritual therapy in which you worship, ask, confess and intercede in believing God is listening to your words — even the muted ones coming from your inner soul. Prayer does not change the will of God, but can help you know, understand and do the will of God.
“Community. Community is the expression of commonality. Every religion establishes and values community life, in which every member receives instruction, encouragement and help. Community life is the life of a religion, producing togetherness, mutual faith reinforcement and love for one another. Community life should be improved by every religion and by believers regarding all human beings to be brothers and sisters. Believers may differ in details of what they believe, but all express faith in the supernatural, pray to Deity, and once these differences are respected, real communion can be cultivated. The human race is, in effect, one big family with just one Father, Whom you call God.
So, my pupil, be open to that which is good, truthful and beautiful in any religion. Religious labels bring prejudice and obstacles to peace and love among the human race. Religions should unite peoples worldwide around the One Father, not divide them with dogmas and prejudices. Jesus, your Master, didn’t despise the religion of His days; He valued the best it had. He interpreted their scriptures for spiritual benefit of all, not only for Jews. And He expanded their concept of God to reveal the lovely Father of All that God really is.

Thought Adjuster.
Subject: “Lessons of Eternal Value.”
Received by Oscar.
Thought Adjuster: “Many of you in present times and in the past have had the most exotic and varied beliefs. It is inevitable for human beings to form an image of the spiritual world according to their culture, the knowledge of the time, and the way in which reality is perceived — the human experiences.
“However, do you think that the life of sun worshippers or the life of those who made idols from nature motives, was a waste? The relative success of a material life is determined based on the grade in which a mortal aligns his or her will to the guidance of the Father’s Presence within. The lessons learned by letting yourself be guided in an intelligent fashion by those internal impulses, thus becoming progressively better, have eternal value and will be useful beyond this life.
“Those primitive people who worshipped pretty much everything they found on their path are not judged on how true their beliefs were or how close to reality they got. They are judged on the way in which they lived their life, how they treated their neighbors and how they mastered the art of living a material life while being spiritual in origin. The lessons they learned will have nothing to do with their motivations, and a lot to do with the degree in which they achieved self-mastery and self-forgetfulness – forgetting the material self in order to express the higher self.
“Even the most advanced and progressive religious beliefs in this planet will always be partial since material life can only grasp a glimpse of the bigger spiritual realities. However, this is not a limitation on the spiritual progress human beings can achieve. Regardless of what you believe and how you explain your reality, you will always count with the orientation of the Divine Presence and the opportunity to decide with the help of the Father which path to take.
“This highlights the madness of pretending that everyone thinks the same way and believes the same things. This is not necessary to achieve the required spiritual growth to move your world forward and to inspire you to forget your differences and make this world a sphere of light. You will not find common ground if you insist on sacrificing your individuality to the fallacy of being equal. Instead, by searching within each one the light of the Father you will find the motivation to become unique expressions of truth, beauty and goodness, thus achieving a real divine harmony.”

Teacher: Thought Adjuster.
Subject: “You are a Piece of the Cosmic Puzzle.”
Received by Anyas.
Thought Adjuster: “Dear child, can you hear me now? I am with you and I am excited that the quality of our connection is improving day by day. As you discard the fog of your spiritual misrepresentations and unrealistic projections, the light can step in and help you move out of uncertainties and doubts. As you learn to find the Christ light to let Him guide you in your journey, you will no longer see the darkness but focus on the bright side, which will guarantee you safe footing in the most challenging trail conditions.
“Yes, dear child, the Father is eternally omnipresent! He is filling each one of us with His Presence and wishes for us to share Him with others, so that His own being can expand forever and ever. As you co-create your own being and reality, the Father Himself never ceases to co-create Himself in His children. The Father does have a vested interest in each one of you. He is the Gardener and the Caretaker of each magnificent seed He has planted in you when He bestowed life upon you. Not only did He give you life, but He also included many unique and special gifts in each one of His children so that, by discovering and sharing them freely, they can enhance each other’s reality and create a magnificent puzzle — multifaceted and multi-dimensional.
“Keep working at your own piece, at adjusting it to fit into the whole. One day, you will be better equipped to look at the Master Piece which is thus being created, piece by piece.
“May this New Year be filled with Love and Light.”
