Subject: “For a While Versus Indefinitely”

“[…] the best method of solving some entangled problems is to forsake them for a time. Then when you go back fresh from your rest or worship, you are able to attack your troubles with a clearer head and a steadier hand, not to mention a more resolute heart.” [UB 143:3:3]
Thought Adjuster: “By their very puzzling and overwhelming nature, problems have a way of turning mole holes into mountains. They trigger your complex inner alarm system, placing you instantly on high alert—an automatic mode of flight or fright. Some hurdles land unannounced in your comfort zone; others forewarn you with red flags and keep building up momentum if you chose to ignore their courteous warnings.
Do not misinterpret the sound advice of setting your troubles aside ‘for a while.’ It certainly does not invite you to sweep them 'indefinitely' under the carpet of your awareness. By taking a sound time-out, you can catch your erratic breath and steady your fluttering heartbeat, thus clearing your head. On the other hand, an unaddressed issue—no matter how deep you bury it in your consciousness—will remain problematic, exerting a long-term negative impact on your overall wellbeing from the underground burial site where you disposed of it.
You adequately deal with challenging predicaments by acknowledging the dark shadows they cast on your inner world and pinpointing their fiery point of origin. You then turn them over in your mind, searching for an entry point—their Achilles heel. You build a scale model that you virtually rotate on your mental screen to examine it from all its puzzling angles—thus objectively appraising this multi-dimensional holographic construct of the ‘beast’ you are up against.
From this vantage point, you can come up with intelligent remedial strategies and reenter your life arena, calm, and collected—ready to take the bull by the horns to dismantle its attacks on your wellbeing.”
