Subject: “Claim Your Superpowers!”
Message received by Agnès.
“Pentecost endowed mortal man with the power to forgive personal injuries, to keep sweet in the midst of the gravest injustice, to remain unmoved in the face of appalling danger, and to challenge the evils of hate and anger by the fearless acts of love and forbearance.” [UB, Paper 194, Section 3.12]
Teacher Uteah: “You are powerful, indeed! However, when you look at the state of affairs on your world, it is evident that the powers made available to humanity at Pentecost have not been claimed to their full measure. Instead of forgiving personal injustices inflicted upon them out of ignorance, many select to file grievances and broadcast their hostility against their wrongdoers, thus adding to the accumulation of unprocessed hate and anger.
“How far removed such behaviors are from the seemingly effortless self-mastery modeled by Jesus amidst similar challenges. He forgave on the spot, remained loving and compassionate amid the ruthless defamation of His character—quite a disarming response to those who were hoping to snare Him and find Him at fault. Far from condoning these reprehensible behaviors by responding in kind, He deflected their iniquitous power by steadfastly exuding love and forbearance.
“The spiritual gifts of Pentecost are here to stay. If you have not done it yet, activate these inner powers, and they will significantly upgrade the quality of your life. By withdrawing yourself from the dissonant dance of hate and anger, you can improvise harmonious choreographies in sync with the tempo of love and forbearance set by Jesus.
“Each one of you gets to feel the sting of personal injuries and the sorrow of being mistreated and misunderstood. Why not envision yourself as a superhero and activate your not-so-secret but much-overlooked superpowers? Indeed, these powers were bestowed from On High to act as bridges between your human and superhuman nature.
“Just as you become proficient at beating the many challenging levels of your video games, by constant practice and sheer perseverance, you will as well bring the bad guys to their knees—the rebellious inclinations of your persona, and emerge as a knight in shining armor—an armor of light. Thus doing, you will help instigate a revolution of the hearts. Walk away from what is harmful to your spiritual welfare and embrace the enduring values manifested in Jesus’ exemplary life.”
