Receiver: "How could I know if I am doing what I must be
doing? I worry that the Father might be expecting that I am to do one
thing, while I am distracted, and doing something else."
Teacher: "Dear child, the Creator never wants you to do
something specific with your life. He doesn't want you to waste your
time, but many ways of expression are open for your personality to develop
spiritually. The only commandment, the only requirement, is to 'be perfect
as your Father in heaven is perfect.' The progressive expression of
perfection does not require you to fulfill a specific task.
"Everyone is free to live his or her life any way he or she wants.
What matters is what you are becoming. The important thing is to be,
not to do. This is why you should not judge another by the type of work
they perform. The medic who heals thousands is no more valuable than
the person who cleans the building where you work. The task each one
performs has nothing to do with individual spiritual progress, which
is the only measure of how close a person is to God.
"As you keep mastering the art of living according to the Father's
will, His presence inside you will let you know that you are moving
forward. You will start feeling lasting happiness and calmness, regardless
of what happens around you. You will start feeling that you need less
to live a fulfilling life, while material things lose their importance
and their influence over you. You will also start to feel an increasing
need to do something for your siblings in this world, because the love
of the Father will start to overflow from your heart, and seek expression
beyond yourself.
"Remember that a most spiritually advanced man ever alive reached
the top expectation for mortal life living as a simple carpenter, while
many philosophers, writers, and leaders never even started to grasp
the true purpose of life: to search for perfection in our personality
while discovering our Creator within ourselves, and within our brothers
and sisters in this world."
