A Thought Adjuster Speaks - Lesson
# 96
November 7, 2004.
You will likely wonder about the meaning of this lesson
on following. Actually, it is so very simple, and yet at the same time,
the most difficult thing to do. I am speaking of following that inner
Still Small Voice, rather than following the voices and the clamor of
this world. They are a peculiar people who dare to place themselves
outside of the mainstream of thought, and yet at the same
time become the most informed, due to the fact that they are learning
to balance between what is seen and what is unseen. It takes a lot of
courage to be a loner in the eyes of the world, and yet, without the
world knowing a thing about it, to be one of the most connected persons
on the planet.
Appearing to be a loner -- and therefore a bit eccentric in the eyes
of the world -- does not mean that this is so. Appearances can be very
deceiving, and I would caution you to never take anything at face value.
At the same time, it behooves you to sharpen your inner listening skills,
as you are learning that there is far more between heaven and earth
than meets the eye. It was not easy for the Apostles to follow Jesus
when they heard these words from Him, Follow Me. No indeed,
they needed time and training to learn to wholeheartedly follow Him.
They experienced many down times, especially when they learned
through some hard lessons in disappointment that His Kingdom was not
of this earth.
Likewise, men and women are called to follow Him, unsure of what this
entails. At first they are so very happy that they have chosen to listen
to His voice, but then the temptations come, and the glamour of the
world beckons. And so they go on socializing and using their time unwisely,
whereas they could be training themselves more in self-mastery, and
learn to listen more within, rather than paying lip-service
to second-hand information. It seems very difficult for humans to become
independent thinkers without a safety-net of friends surrounding them.
It is not really important to have a lot of friends. What is important
is that you first make friends with yourself, and sort out who you actually
are, and who you are meant to be, without someone elses opinion
influencing you.
This is a developmental stage in life, which you can attain through
listening within, and finding out first hand that you are a most beloved
child of God, and equally loved as is everyone else who does not know
this fact first hand. It is not what you do in life; it is what you
strive to do that is important. And so you learn to listen in the Stillness
of your heart, and find out what is truly important in your life when
you begin to wholeheartedly follow that Inner Guide, who unerringly
leads you God-ward. This is achieved in the day by day listening and
experiencing a growing togetherness with the All That Is, and even thought
you may seem to be a loner in the eyes of others, you are indeed and
in fact one of Gods billionaires, because of your faith and trust
in Him. This is what makes life worth living.
